Do you know Jesus?
Many people will say they know who Jesus is and they even know the story of Jesus...you know, cute little baby, born in a manger, subject of many great traditional Christmas stories, tv shows and songs. They even know about Easter, after all, who can't remember the big Easter dinners with all the family and the baskets full of toys and candy, Peter Cottontail and all that stuff. But...do you know Him? Jesus Christ is alive and real and there for you and you can know Him - personally! |

Why should you know Jesus?
The Bible makes it perfectly clear that we are all sinners. The Bible also says that the penalty for sin is death! If you were to only look at the Ten Commandments and use that as your guage apart from anything else — have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever looked at a member of the opposite sex with a lustful eye? These are only three of the ten, but they are usually enough to reveal to anyone that they don't measure up to the commandments — God's Law!
You may say, well, death seems so harsh and these sins seem so small...but you know, God is Holy! He is Holy! This means that all of our sin, great or small to us, is enough to put a wall between us and God - forever!
The great news is that God loves us, He doesn't want to be apart from us at all. He wants fellowship with us forever and ever. Because He loves us, He has given us the free will to choose whether or not we want to believe and follow Him who made us. |

We have the choice to have eternal life with the Creator, the Author of Life! There is still one issue - the penalty of sin - Death! What do we do, how can we be deserving life eternal with the Lord when we still have the problem of sin? The Bible tells us that a Saviour was born, he lived a sinless life and went to the Cross to die for the sin of the world, so that we might have eternal life. Even more, that He rose again, resurrected and truly alive - not dead, but alive! That He ascended to Heaven and that He would prepare a place for us.
You see, "For God so loved the world, that He sent His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son in to the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." (John ch.3 vs.16 & 17)
How can you know Jesus?
Well, the key to that verse above is "believes". If you believe in Jesus Christ, and believe what He has told us - that "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John ch.14 vs. 6) If you believe this, and have a desire to know Him, you can! Pray this prayer today...right now...you will be so blessed to begin a relationship with your Creator who wants so much to have a relationship with you today!

Father, I understand that I am a sinner. I know that my sin separates me from you. Lord please forgive me of my sin, wash me white as snow. Help me to turn away from that sin and begin living a new life with you. Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus to pay the penalty for that sin. Jesus, come into my heart. You are my Lord and Saviour. Jesus teach me to live a life that pleases you and help me to learn how to have a relationship with you. It's in Your name, Jesus, that I pray. Amen. |

Friends, if you have prayed that prayer today, you have received new life with the Creator of the universe! Even better, you don't need anyone to act on your behalf to talk to Him — you can talk to Him through prayer constantly. The more you pray, you will find more and more comfort in the knowledge that He is there and does hear your every word. I know it seems so easy and almost too easy, but you see, salvation is a gift — a free gift that He wants all of us to have, but He loves us too much to force it on us.
Now that you have made this choice, it is so important that you get plugged in with other Christians that you can come to with questions. First, GET A BIBLE! God reveals Himself through the Bible and you have got to get one. If you need one, contact me! I want you to contact me anyway and let me know the great news that you have entered into this relationship with Jesus Christ! Believe me friends, there is no better choice you can make in life — it is the most important thing you will ever do! |
